The WOMEN FIRST SWIM PROGRAM is open to women of all ages and focuses on efficiency, drills, endurance and some open water skills to help better prepare women for their first triathlon or open water swim.
Did an open water swim last night around Quarry Lake and a run on the track around the lake. The weather was perfect and the water was a perfect 74 degrees. The platform in the back corner by the apartments is missing, so don’t try to sight for it — just swim like it’s still there. Quarry Lake is one of my most favorite places to swim in Austin — pure heaven being in the water.
I missed the May 10 class so I could participate in the Rookie Triathlon. I was looking forward to applying the open water swim tools Sara taught us just weeks earlier. Key things I remembered were positioning prior to the race start, and the one armed turn around the race bouy. I was also really glad she taught us how to site while swimming. I was still pretty wigged out by the yucky water though.
