Summer Mermaid Spotlight: Sandy Morris

Posted by coachlisa on August 16, 2010

It’s time to shine the spotlight on another deserving mermaid. In recent years we’ve spotlighted many dedicated mermaids like Sarah Pruiett, Joyce LaBaw, Lisa Paulson, Veronica Hernandez (our Spring Mermaid Spotlight) and Sharon Behringer (our Summer Rookie Mermaid Spotlight).

Spring Session '07

Our Summer Mermaid Spotlight Sandy Morris has not only been a hard working participant in classes over the last four years, but she has consistently been an encourager of others to take up triathlon, has led a regular pre-Danskin open water swim at Decker Lake and volunteered as a Swim Angel at the Danskin Triathlon. This spring she won our attendance award and proved that regular practice brings results when she won third place at the Splash for Cash.

Says Sandy: “I won third in my age group for most laps. While this doesn’t sound amazing, it is the first award I have ever (and I mean ever) received for anything athletic. I was always “picked last” in PE and never really considered myself the athlete. Needless to say, I was pretty jazzed.”

We’re jazzed to present Sandy’s Mermaid Spotlight interview here.

Underwater form feedback

Posted by coachlisa on August 16, 2010

Coach Sara and Rachel did a great job on getting underwater videos and stroke analysis of everyone attending Saturday’s swim practice. The coaches will do our best this week to provide everyone feedback on their form.

Only 2 more sessions in the summer session! We’ll be looking at starting the next fall session sometime in September.
